Posterior Male Torso Monochrome

This is a monochrome oil painting.

First, I used a Magenta acrylic on the canvas. This is not exactly Primary Magenta, but still close enough. I let it dry for a long time.

I mass-prepare black and magenta canvases for such occasions. Acrylics seem to dry quickly, but they keep on drying for about one to three months, depending on how thick the layers are. If you intend to add more acrylics on top, that’s not a problem. However, if you want to add oils and want to hope the painting won’t start cracking in less than a century, it’s better to wait for the acrylics to really dry.

Back to this painting. Then, I covered the canvas with a thin layer of Rose Madder – my second favourite pink. It’s also a very strong colour, but not nearly as strong as Primary Magenta, which would have “swallowed” the white. Then, using Titanium White, I gave the guy his shape.
