Sitting at the Foam Line

This is an oil painting, and it was also an experiment.

There are practically no brushstrokes in it. The thin whiter lines in the water (but not the sand) and the hair of the guy are the only brushstrokes.

The rest was done by tapping the brush on the paper (oil painting paper).

That sounds fun, but it was a very frustrating experience. To use a Greek expression, “I spat blood” to give the guy a human shape.

I usually pay too much attention to the details, and this technique challenged that obsession of mine. So, despite the frustration, it was also a liberating experience.
