Hello, People!
October has been one of the months of the year I consider… nice to be with. If he was a guy, he wouldn’t be the hottest guy on earth, but, surely, he wouldn’t pass unnoticed. Hmm… I must paint him at some time, but that’s for another October.
Back to the actual month without flesh and bones. Before university, September was the “Why the hell summer vacation ended?” kind of month, while during university, September was the month of exams. On the other hand, by October things were back to normal, and with holidays (5 days in October, 1 day in November and a week in December) ahead, promising that things won’t be too tough.
On top of that, daytime is still long enough, the temperature is better than in March and even in April most of the times, sea is still quite warm and welcoming, sexy guys are still wearing as little as possible… You get why I like this month.
And then it’s the Halloween month!
There are a few death-related Ancient Greece’s traditions falling in October (and November) but Halloween is not one of those. We imported it, because it’s fun and interesting. And I love it, as you probably already know, if you know me from Twitter. Halloween’s only problem is that it lasts only one day.
By the way, All Saints’ Day in the Christian Orthodox Church falls 58 days after Easter – or if you prefer, the Sunday after the Pentecost. So, no All Saints’ Eve in October either.
The only thing that clearly makes October (emotionally) darker than April is that in April I’m still under the illusions that “the whole year is ahead” and that “my yearly goals and dreams will be realised”. On the other hand, October brings the realisation that the year is almost finished, along with that “Oh, fucking hell! Yet once again, I failed all (or most) of my goals” kind of thought. Yeah… it was better when my mind was academic-year-focused.
But this year I have achieved something (or almost – I’m still two illustrations short). I compiled a collection of short stories with illustrations (pencil drawings) for each of them. Moreover, a publisher has expressed a – should I call it “vague”? – interest in it. Don’t hold your breath, but wish me luck!
Now, site-related news!
Funny Comments
As I’ve said in my “Hello, September” post and some of you have already noticed, comments now need to be approved. I know it’s not a very friendly thing, and I don’t like it either, but it helps in protecting my (in)sanity and my site’s dignity.
During September I received three funny comments. Two of the funny-haha kind and one of the funny-peculiar (or absurd) kind. Of course, none of them was approved.
The haha kind of comments were from the same account for two different posts. That person probably wanted to write an interesting comment for the posts, so they gave a prompt to an AI asking it to write something interesting about the post, and then they copied and pasted it as a comment. The prompt, not the reply. 🤣🤦♂️
The absurd comment… well, I could say a lot about that one, but I’ll refrain from doing that and say only what I really couldn’t accept. The author of that comment had the audacity to say that “the end doesn’t justify the means”.
“But don’t you always say that, as well?” you may ask.
True. I do. But the key word is “always”. I always say that and always believe that. On the contrary, the sender of that comment used it now when it was convenient to support their more-dogma-than-argument, while in the past they were more than happy to deify means that harm millions of people – including myself – for, then, the end they chose to delude themselves into believing those means served was an end they liked. Back then, they treated Machiavelli as their Supreme God (and fascists far worse than Machiavelli, too, but let’s stay on topic).
But that’s in September. Let’s move on!
What To Expect?
For October you can expect “Halloween at The Fernbeck Inn”, a Halloween-themed, gay romance fairytale.
Also, some “Learning Greek” posts – the kind you can’t learn elsewhere 😏️ – and some other, hopefully interesting posts.
On top of that, I intend to improve the Gallery posts by adding some more details to the existing posts and by uploading some more of my art. Those uploads won’t be a “mass upload”, so I won’t pin the not-art-pieces posts to stand above the art pieces. This might be a little inconvenient for some, so please bear with me.
Moreover, now the pieces under the Sensual Nudes from my Gallery are either visible only to subscribers, or they need a password. If you are a subscriber of my blog and you want the password, feel free to ask. Let me be clear: this is NOT a pay service. It’s completely free, as it always has been. Unfriendlier, yes, but it needed to be done.
Lastly, if you notice, the site’s URL is now YorgosKC.com.
And I think that’s all I needed to say.
Do always be happy, have fun and happy Halloween, people!
(Did I change my ending-of-the-post format? Nah! It must be a bug!)
Love and Kisses!
