This is an oil painting.
It’s also one of my first attempts with oils. It’s actually my third surviving oil painting, and it’s still one of my favourites.
It was also a good lesson on how strong Primary Magenta is. The background is practically Titanium White with very little Primary Magenta at the edges, and then blended towards the centre.
Also, if you, like me, use much of this wonderful colour close to skin, keep in mind that Burnt Sienna – a very classic paint to darken the skin – doesn’t look nice, or natural next to Primary Magenta.

On little background? Anything beyond simple crayons is informative for me. I have very minimal exposure outside of museums! 😉
