A few days ago I wrote a post sharing three odd and memorable meetings that happened in London. Encounters that stayed with me long after they ended.
In that post I mentioned there was also another such interesting encounter that happened in Thessaloniki, and that’s what this post is all about.
Three Friends Playing In The Street
So, it was sunny summer Sunday, at about 14:00 and I was going down a quite central road – on the pavement, not the actual road.
And then I see, in front of me, three boys – maybe a year younger than me – walking up the same pavement. Together.
That alone is not odd, of course, but these three boys were clearly having a lot of fun. They were walking, laughing, bumping on each other to push the other guy. Occasionally hugging each other. You know, the arm around the shoulders thing.
I don’t know how boys around 18 usually act out in the public where you live, but what I was witnessing wasn’t – and still isn’t – the norm in Thessaloniki. It would be more expected if they were 8yo boys, or if it was night and they had had a few too many drinks. But in the middle of the day? Nope!
That’s why I was enjoying this refreshing spectacle quite a lot.
People walking by the boys didn’t seem to pay any attention to them, either. Thessaloniki is not London. If you do something irregular in the streets, many people will turn their heads, and some – depending on the situation – might comment on that loud enough for you to hear. But nobody did anything of the kind for these boys.
I found that odd, but pleasant, and didn’t give it a second thought until later. I preferred to focus on the boys, instead, as we were getting closer and soon they would be behind my back.
Before that happened, though, laughing and pushing each other they entered into a shop’s recessed doorway. On Sundays shops are closed, here. But that shop had its entrance, not in the same level as its widow, but set back quite far from the pavement.
So, the boys entered that place, probably to check something interesting in the window. Or so I thought.
Less than a minute later I was right there, and turned to look towards where the boys should have been. There was nobody there. The shop was indeed closed, too. I even checked, just in case.
On second thought, though, it would have been awkward if it wasn’t closed and:
“What would you like?”
“The three boys that came here just a minute ago, please!”
🤣
Were they ghosts?
Well, that’s what I believe, but you can interpret the situation in any way you feel.
Until that moment I had no reason to suspect they weren’t real boys of flesh and blood, but I have no way to explain how they disappeared, if they were.
So, do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever met any? If so, can you share the experience?
That’s all!
Have fun!

A sunny summer midday… not exactly the classic setting for a ghost story!
But maybe ghosts don’t know that.

A very interesting concept and idea. One that will remain for a long time. Ghosts? Demons? Dreams? Wishful thinking? The options are endless! Naked hugs! 😉

Indeed! I’m glad I’ve “met” them, no matter what they were.
Love and kisses!
