I speak England very best! – The Horror of Editing

Hello people!

As I’ve said in an earlier post I’ve started editing the first short story I have published on Wattpad – it’s almost ready, I think – and since I started with editing I thought I’d finally finish editing “1000”, as well.

I don’t know how editing goes for you, but here is how it goes for me – more or less – every time.

I write the story.

I read it ten times or so, and I correct – every single time – a lot of mistakes.

Then, stupidly confident, I send it to my beloved editor, along with sedatives. 😜

Then, she sends an email saying something like, “Lovely story. I attached my very few suggestions.”

I jump for joy: I did a good enough job this time! Yay!!!

Then I open the attachment.

As always, there are about three or four mistakes for every two words I’ve written (this might, or might not be an exaggeration).

Dear gods!!!

Do I even know how to write a single word in English correctly?

I guess not!

So, I follow everything I can easily agree with and then:

“Thanks for your editing. I have a few points that need discussion. Very few, though!”

“Is this one of your days-long arguments?”

“No, no, it’s simple things this time!”

She doesn’t really believe my lie. 😇

Her great-grandma died seventeen times in the last ten years – always while we were editing something. She accidentally blocked me for days, every single time. And, of course, all of these are lies. 😜

I really don’t understand how she still talks to me, and why she doesn’t discourage me from writing.

But! I’m really grateful she doesn’t.

Hope your editing process is smoother, and you don’t send your editor to the psychiatrist half as often as I do. But if you do, please give me your advice! Ehm… I meant, please share your experience. 😇
