The Demon of the Three Rivers – Chapter 05

Also, do remember, this is a prequel to “The House in the Lake”, so, if you haven’t read “The House in the Lake”, there will be some spoilers.

It took Velek a whole moon circle to work his magic, but once everything was done, he told the Demigod of Light to go and meet Alina and she would readily follow him to his bed.

And the Demigod indeed met with Alina and she was more than willing to have sex with him. And they did. But, instead of falling in love with the Demigod after that, she tried to kill him and when she failed, she tried to kill herself. For the spell had stopped influencing her.

The conditions of the oath, though, had been fulfilled, and so, not even the naive Demigod of Light had any memory of either the spell, or the demon who had cast it.

The Demigod managed to prevent Alina’s suicide, but he wasn’t sure she wouldn’t try it again. So, he took her with him to his heavenly home, to take care of her, until she had got over the shock. Of course, he hoped she would come to love him, but this never came to pass.

Unfortunately, Alina’s depression became even worse two months after then, when she realised she was pregnant with the Demigod’s child. So, this discovery didn’t bring them together, but drove them even farther apart. Emotionally, for Alina was still living in the Demigod’s home.

Then a boy was born, but his mother didn’t want to hold him or see him; not even for a moment. He was the proof of her shame. And his father couldn’t face the boy who reminded him of the woman he was in love with, but who wanted him dead, for no reason. Velek’s memory had gone, and, with it, the memory of the magic he had worked. So, the Demigod thought Alina had had sex with him, of her own free will.

But the Sun God appeared before Alina and asked her if she would exchange the baby for the peace of her soul and for the restoration of her honour. And she agreed. And the Sun God restored her virginity, healed her sorrow and removed her memory of his own son.

And he took his grandson to raise him. Moreover, he forbade the Demigod of Light to even visit the baby, unless he had cleansed himself of all his anger against the baby and his obsession towards Alina.

And he named the baby, as you surely have guessed, Lugh.
